"Farm to Schools" uses local resources as a teaching method to instill the idea of a healthy lifestyle. Local Farms, like Joe Brook's farm, will benefit greatly from this future program.

Meth Lab Bust Update

meth lab mugsST. JOHNSBURY - The two men accused of illegally manufacturing methamphedamine in St. Johnsbury were ordered to be held under federal custody.

Shawn Greenwood and Thaddeus Gordon were denied bail at their arraignment in U.S. District Court on Thursday.

St. Johnsbury Interim Town Manager

st. j. interim town managerST. JOHNSBURY - The St. Johnsbury select board has appointed an interim Town Manager, but not everyone on the select board is happy about how the decision was made.

Assistant Town Manager, Dawn McPhee, is now the interim Town Manager. The decision to appoint McPhee was advised by the town's legal council, but according to Alan Ruggles, it was never discussed by the board as a whole.

Drug Take Back Day

drug take backSAINT JOHNSBURY - This Saturday the Caledonia County Sherrifs Office will be taking back unused perscription drugs.

Over the last four take back days the Drug Enforcement Administration has taken over 774 tons of medication. According to the DEA, last year a record was set of over 276 tons were turned in.

Old Artifacts Looking for New Home

ST. JOHNSBURY - The St. Johnsbury Historical and Heritage Center is attempting to find new locations for some of their artifacts. For years, the Fairbanks Museum has housed and displayed some artifacts, but a lot more are still in storage.

Two Arrested in Meth Lab Bust

JOHNSBURY - Shawn Greenwood, 40, and Thaddeus Gordon, no age given, were arrested Wednesday night by the Vermont State Police in connection with the clandestine methamphetamine lab discovered yesterday in St. Johnsbury. While hazardous materials crews cleaned up the area surrounding the meth lab yesterday, Greenwood and Gordon were in Burlington, appearing in U.S. District Court on charges of conspiracy to manufacture narcotics.

"Be Seat Smart" stopped in St. Johnsbury hoping to solve a problem here in the Northeast Kingdom. There are many ways parents can improperly use a car seat from facing it the wrong way, to malfunctioning clasps or even having having the wrong seat in general for the child height and weight. "Be Seat Smart" is trying to educate parents everywhere on miss use, especially up here in the NEK.

WETI Construction Almost Complete

WeidmannST. JOHNSBURY - WEIDMANN Electrical Technology (WETI) in St. Johnsbury is finishing up its 40 million dollar project that has been in the works since May of last year.

WETI produces electrical insulation material for transformers.

I-91 Ramp Closure

Ramp ClosedST. JOHNSBURY - Drivers traveling from I-93 North to I-91 south in Waterford will have to take a detour for the next thirty days. Scheduled construction for the bridge located on the on-ramp began Tuesday September 11.

Pomerleau Building Over Budget

pomerleau buildingST. JOHNSBURY - The renovation project of the Pomerleau building in St. Johnsbury is around 270 thousand dollars over budget.

At the select board meeting on Monday night, it was decided that the money would come from the general fund. The largest cut will be about 89 thousand dollars from the fire department's equipment fund. This money includes 68 thousand dollars that the department was going to invest in a new fire truck.
