Burke's Winter Season Pass Deal

Burke – Burke Mountain, one of the most popular winter skiing resorts in the Northeastern Kingdom, has started selling its 2014-2015 winter pass. This is the first year that Burke tried to sell the season pass by quantity than by date.

Triple Crown Race Finishes at QBurke

ENDUROBURKE- Q-Burke Mountain hosted the final race of the Kingdom Enduro this past weekend. The race was the third in the Triple Crown Series.

Fall Foliage Festival

FFFBURKE VT- This weekend, Burke celebrated it’s twenty seventh Fall Foliage Festival.

 Visitors from near and far came to enjoy Burke’s biggest festival, and with the scenic fall views and the summer like weather, no one was left disappointed.

Burke Hosts Fall Weekend

fall foliageEAST BURKE- Foliage is in its peak in East Burke, just in time for the annual Fall Foliage Festival.  Burke is hoping for a busy weekend, President of the Burke area Chamber of Commerce, Tim Tierney, estimates that around 4,500 people will attend the festival in the small town.

Q Burke Hotel Shaping Up

q burkeBURKE - Construction has been moving quickly for the Q Burke Resort, and is even ahead of schedule, after breaking ground at the site this summer. PeakCM President, Jerry Davis, says that they are in the first phase of the EB-5 Project, which consists of four different projects.

Q Burke Mountain Honors Fallen Hero

ThumbnailTemplate copy copyBURKE- Q Burke Mountain held a rail jam this past weekend to honor local hero, Ian Muller.  Ian was a 22 year old Lyndon student who was killed in Afghanistan in March of 2012.  Spirits were high as skiers and Riders of all ages hit the slopes in during the rail jam. Contestants had an option of four rails of diverse shapes and sizes.

Possible Expansion for Burke School

Due to the square footage that the Burke Town School covers, the school is close to reaching it's maximum student capacity which may lead to a possible expansion.

The Gear is Here

ski swapBURKE - While temperatures continue to drop and snow begins to fall, the desire for winter sports heightens. Now is the time to gather snow gear needed for the winter as the season is amongst us. The Burke Town School is offering a variety of needed gear at the annual Burke Ski Swap this sunday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Lyndon SnoCruisers Replace Bridge

snocruisersEAST BURKE - The Lyndon SnoCruisers have been working hard to replace two bridge projects prior to the 2013-2014 snow season. The first project was on Sanborn Bridge in Lyndonville. The next project is to replace a bridge in East Burke.

Burke Fall Foliage Festival

This year was no different; in fact, it was arguably the largest turnout in the festival's history. The gathering took place on Saturday, September 28th and the day spanned throughout nine hours with a variety of activities.

Mountain Bike Inn

mountain bike innBURKE - As Jessi Hudson continues renovations for a new inn targeted towards mountain bikers, her dreams are one step closer to becoming a reality.

Over the past several years Hudson has had thoughts of an inn located next to Burke Mountain, where bikers would be able to finish their day of hitting the trails and enjoy their nights with friends by a fire within an inviting environment.

Burke Close to Breaking Ground

burke mountain act 250 permitBURKE - Burke Mountain is one step closer to breaking ground on phase one of the N.E.K Initiative renovations.  The mountain held a public hearing for an Act 250 permit, which is required by state law, where residents from the area were able to voice their concerns or ask any questions they may of had.

Kingdom Trails is One Step Closer

online votingBURKE- Kingdom Trails has always been known for having some of the best mountain biking trails in the entire country, but this week the people of Facebook have spoken. Kingdom Trails edged out the competition in the Bell Built Trail Building Project in the flow trail division, receiving 34% of the popular vote.

Kingdom Trails Competes for Grant

kingdom trails contestBURKE - Kingdom Trails is currently competing in a Facebook contest that could mean over $30,000 in grant money to develop their trails. Bell Bike Helmets is offering $100,000 to be split across three projects in three different trail types; pump tracks, downhill trail, and flow trail.

NEK Collaboration

NEK COLLABBURKE - A public forum was held at the Tamarack Grill in Burke last night to discuss more on the upcoming changes to the town and expansion of Burke Mountain. The Northeast Kingdom Collaborative, as well as local officials and others who have businesses and organizations involved in the NEK Initiative met with members of the community.

Burke Meeting

The discussion was primarily informational for the people of Burke to inform them of everything on the agenda for today's meeting. The town meeting will stay the same as last year except for a few tweaks with road construction and repair.
