COVID-19 in Vermont

VERMONT - Mondays press release from the Vermont Department of Health on COVID-19 showed that Vermont currently has no new cases as of Sunday. However, this does not mean Vermont has 'flattened the curve'.  There are still some things and procedures Vermonter's should be following. Governor Phil Scott still urges Vermonters to follow his 'Be Smart, Be Safe' model until June 15th as welll.

Social distancing still needs to be practiced, and enforced according to Governor Phil Scott. This means maintaining 6 feet distance from people you haven't been in close proximity to-and keeping social gatherings to 10 or less people. The state hopes to be able to bump up social gathering to 25 or less-but until that time comes 10 or less is the right amount people need to follow, to avoid any spikes in cases.

"No matter how good the data continues to look, people should still be following our social distancing and health guidlines, as we continue to turn the spiget,"said Dr. Mark Levine.  

Governor Scott is also still urging Vermonters to continue with proper hygiene use too; washing hands frequently, and using hand sanitizer. People are still urged to not travel very far at this time as well-and only go out when it is essential.

By the numbers of COVID-19 as of May 18th is as follows:

Total cases-940. Those being monitored-11. Currently hospitalized-3. Those who have recovered-810. Those who are being montiored-20. Total tests given so far-23,825. And total deaths-54. More can be found on this at www.vermonthealth.gov/covid 

Vermont may be leading the nation on slowing the spread, but Vermonters are told to still remain vigilant.
