CALEDONIA COUNTY- Incumbent Dean Shatney defended his position as Caledonia County Sheriff in last night's election.
Shatney bested his opponent and former colleague, Daniele Kostruba, with 53.36 percent of the vote over Kostruba's 34.2 percent.
In regards to losing, Kostruba said that it was "nothing personal" and is unsure as to whether or not she will run again in four years.
"I'm disappointed that I didn't win because I thought I could have done a lot for Caledonia County, but I'm not upset about it," she said, "It was a great experience and I learned a lot about it. It helped me step out of my comfort zone and do things I probably never would have done."
The main focus of Shatney's campaign is that he would like to extend hours of patrol for the Sheriff's Office and hopes to put Sheriffs out on patrol 24/7.
