A Fight for a New Bridge

Wheelock- A homeowner feels ignored by the town since the floods last summer.

This past summer, Wheelock and surrounding towns experienced serious flooding. Since then, towns have been working to repair roads, bridges and anything damaged. Many towns got budgets passed specifically for flood repair during town meeting day.

While most damages have been repaired or has a clear plan to be repaired, one property seems to be disregarded.

Kim Hathaway owns property right off of Kenniston Hill Road in Wheelock. There is one access point to her property, which is a bridge over a brook. This past summer, early July of 2024, this bridge got washed out, making it nearly impossible for her to get across.

Kim Hathaway explains, "There is a town ordinace that states that they are responsible for bridges and culverts on class 4 roads"

She is aware that living on class 4 roads means that they are not maintained. But, she feels that she is being ignored by the town since after 8 months, she still has not heard back from any officials.
