Concerns about student safety were raised at a public meeting held on Tuesday.
In preparation for the November 18th community forum, the public safety meeting this week was designed to capture feedback concerning the safety in the community.
Many public figures spoke on behalf of the community. It functioned as a report from each department on progress to better the community.
A QR code leading to a Google Form questionnaire as well as an in-person Q&A were used to collect concerns from residents as well as provide ideas to how those issues can be resolved.
One of the first points brought up during the Q&A was the safety of students during their commute. A personal story was shared and in general much of the conversation involved making students feel welcomed and safer in their own community.
Stay tuned for the November 18th meeting where a more comprehensive plan will be discussed and many of the unanswered questions from Tuesday can be brought to light.
“The idea is to gather questions, gather data, gather comments and concerns, process that, and then at that meeting, have an open Q&A session with breakout sessions... try to work through suggesting ideas and coming up with solutions,” says Town Manager Chad Whitehead.
If you have concerns involving the St. Johnsbury community, you can submit a form that will be posted on their Front Porch Forum as well as the St. Johnsbury Community Facebook page.
