Vermont's Annual Green Up Day

Saint Johnsbury is getting ready for Green Up Day this Saturday.

Saturday, May 3rd is Vermont's Annual Green Up Day. Green Up Day has been happening since the 1970's.

Green Up Day is a statewide effort to keep the roads clean. The state of Vermont works to keep state highways clean while volunteers work to clean up town roads.

Each year...towns work with state coordinators and Vermont business sponsors to set up this event. Saint Johnsbury has partnered with Saint Johnsbury Subaru the past few years.

St.Johnsbury Town Manager, Chad Whitehead explains, "We work a lot with the Saint Johnsbury Subaru Dealership. They put a lot of effort and value into Green Up. So people can come in and pick up Green Up bag at the towns clerk office or St.J Subaru and then you just go out and pick up trash from the side of the road."

Green Up Day is entirely volunteer work and greatly appreiciated by the state. You can find Green Up bags at the Town Clerk's office or your town's business sponsorship.
