St.Johnsbury is replacing the vintage welcome signs within the next few months, but there’s more too it than this.
The design of the signs is still being decided upon, the community is involved with choosing two different looks of how the sign will be redone. Gillian Sewake shared who is behind the revamp and important dates ahead. “The town of St.Johnsbury design advisory committee approached Discover St.Johnsbury so we’re a separate non-profit organization, we do a lot of work with beautification and with supporting the design of the town, the town’s brand, promoting it to visitors and frankly to residents as well, and they approached us to see if we would partner with them on this project”, (Gillian Sewake). These signs were originally created by Andy and Clara Fisher around the early 2000’s, they were both part of the beautifications committee. Other facts about this is are the details in the original signs, being painted and sculpted to represent Vermont’s mountains, these news looks incorporate the rustic edge of the town with creativity and meaning. They currently have 940 votes digitally, voting will close on Saturday April 19th, so make sure to go online at https://forms.gle/kopWGBmGK75w2gVy6 or stop into the St.J welcome center and write it out.
