A ST. JOHNSBURY SELECTBOARD MEETING WAS HELD THIS MONDAY REVEALING SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE TOWN’S FINANCES.
LAST WEEK, TOWN MEETING DAY WAS HELD ACROSS VERMONT AND ST. JOHNSBURY AND IT’S RESIDENTS VOTED ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT BUDGET PROPOSALS FOR THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR.
2024 HAS BEEN A DIFFICULT YEAR FOR THE TOWN AS THE FLOODS AND STORMS SINCE SUMMER HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS DAMAGE TO INFRASTRUCTURE ACROSS THE STATE. FEMA HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS FOR A WHILE, SUPPLYING CERTAIN COSTS THAT THE STATE COULDN’T DO ON IT’S OWN.
CHAD WHITEHEAD, THE ST. JOHNSBURY TOWN MANAGER CLUES THE TOWN IN ON CERTAIN FINANCIAL ISSUES THE TOWN FACES.
CHAD WHITEHEAD\TOWN MANAGER: “GENERAL FUND REVENUES WERE $3,462,879.00 AND EXPENSES WERE $3,926,247.00 RESULTING IN A DEFICIT OF $463,367.00 THE DEFICIT IS DUE TO REVITALIZATION EXPENSES OF $188,000.00, STORM DAMAGE OF $48,000.00”
CHAD WHITEHEAD ASSURES THE TOWN AND IT’S DEPARTMENTS THAT ALTHOUGH THE BALANCE DOESN’T SHOW IT, THE TOWN WILL BE FINE GOING THROUGH THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR.
