St.Johnsbury residents without water

ST. JOHNSBURY - St. Johnsbury residents are on a boil water notice after a pipe broke the afternoon of September 6th. While St. J Department of Public Works worked to fix the problem, water either was turned off or residents experienced low water pressure or the appearance of sediment east of the Passumpsic river, according to Daniel Gray, who is the water operator for the Department of Public Works in St. Johnsbury.

Water was turned off for six hours and the boil water warning was a precaution. Water samples were sent for testing that afternoon and results came back clear the next day.

Work is still being done on pipes in the surrounding area, blanketing cars and buildings in a thick layer of dust. Work will continue in different areas as DPW replaces valves and pipes in the aging water system.
