St. J Select Board to Discuss Storage Policies

ST. JOHNSBURY - When storing "stuff" in St. Johnsbury, does location matter? Who pays the taxes, especially for units on your property? The St. J Planning Commission is trying to clarify those questions with new self-storage and freight container policies.

Town Manager Chad Whitehead presented the commission's amendments to the town's Zoning Bylaws at the September 13 select board meeting. The proposal would put restrictions on placement and land use of permanent storage structures.

The discussion was tabled until answers regarding who would be taxed and how are found. The Planning Commission is currently working on this with Whitehead before it is proposed to the select board and town again in the future.
