St. Johnsbury Prepares for Parade

Halloween Safety edited-1

ST. JOHNSBURY- Halloween is right around the corner, and the town of St. Johnsbury is getting ready for the Halloween festivites.

For members of the community such as Diane Cummings, Halloween is a time for decorating and celebrating in a safe manner. Cummings moved from Connecticut to Saint Johnsbury and embraced the spirirt in the town.

Four years ago she witnessed many children running in the road on Halloween night while cars drove recklessly. "One time there was a drunk driver speeding and we were all saying this is an accident waiting to happen, some kid is going to get hurt." She spoke with neighbors and decided it would be a good idea to close the road to prevent an accident. She thought making it into a parade would enhance the Halloween spirit.

Cummings explained this parade is a group effort involving twelve committee members, volunteers from the community, and sponsors. The committee is able to purchace safety gear and food for the vollunteers for this festive event.
