Children and Families in Vermont

LGK2ST. JOHNSBURY - Legislators met in St. Johnsbury to discuss particular issues effecting children and families across the state of Vermont.

At the open forum meeting hosted by Building Bright Futures, members of multiple organizations including Umbrella and Lets Grow Kids talked about key issues that they see as important.

Among the topics, the organizations took priority to healthy eating habits, substance abuse, violence in homes, and quality health care.

By the end of the discussion, members of the community were able to ask questions. One member asked, "How could these issues (important to Lets Grow Kids and Umbrella) be resolved with a state budget that is already stretched thin?"

Maroni Minter of Lets Grow Kids said, "I hope that you have heard how important all of these programs are, so when we are talking about the budget just keep in mind that these are critical programs."

The most important part of the campaign for Lets Grow Kids is awareness of Vermont's shortage of high-quality, affordable child care in Vermont.
