With spring coming in, rain and melting snow can impact more flooding in the surrounding communities.
Alyssa May, member of Northeast Kingdom Organizing works on assisting people impacted by flooding, specifically the one’s from the 2023-2024 summers. “In 2024 I was involved with the flood recovery team called KURRVE which is Kingdom United for Resilence and Recovery Effort, and with KURRVE I provided logistic support, tried to make connections in the community, tried to figure out where we could house teams of volunteers that came for example”, (Alyssa May). Besides her other jobs of being on the Burke School Board and the minister of the Orleans Federated Church, she has a strong passion for helping others and working in groups to get it done. They keep all of their supplies in a little hub right down the road from the campus along with other hubs. She hopes to continue the group again and encourages others to volunteer.
