Ponds Melting

Ice on local ponds and rivers are now melting, what to expect and prepare for in the coming weeks.

Jeff Corrow the fire chief in Lyndonville expressed that while there’s not many incidents in the area, they are fully prepared. “I am privileged enough to have a swift water, or a water rescue team that is attached to my fire department, it’s all sponsored by the fire department and one of the reasons why we have a team is seems like Lyndonville floods often and we needed to do what we needed to do to provide a service to the community for the risk at stake and we’ve identified flooding as a real situation that happens often”, (Jeff Corrow). The department is fully equipped with gear and two inflatable boats, making it easier to assist other places if needed. He wanted to express with the flooding that occurred in previous summers to take precaution and be aware of high water. It’s very important to remember the safety beind water and ice, as both might not appear to be as damaging as they are.
