LYNDONVILLE - A St. Johnsbury man who lead police on a high speed chase on Friday, has plead not guilty on all counts.
Twenty-four year old John Sheehy appeared in Caledonia County Court yesterday to speak for multiple charges related to Friday’s chase. Sheehy was identified as the man driving a Green Subaru that struck a propane tank after leading police on a chase through multiple towns.
The chase began in Lyndonville around 4 p.m. on Center Street and preceded through the town and the Lyndon State College Campus.
“I was just amazed at what was going on because we are just in the middle of Vermont in a small town. I just didn’t think there would be a police chase through campus,” said Lyndon State College student Matthew Townsend.
Police eventually called off the chase when the car struck a propane tank and fled the scene. Sheehy was identified by police before he fled and was later arrested in his home.
Sheehy is facing charges of carless and negligent driving, attempting to elude, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment, and violating conditions of release. A public defender entered a plea of not guilty for on all 5 of the charges.
Sheehy is currently being held for lack of $15,000 bail.
