LYNDONVILLE - Green Lantern development, the company behind the proposed solar panel project in Lyndonville, clarified some data about solar energy costs.
The cost per kilowatt hour will increase by about four cents. The current average being about 15 cents per kilowatt hour will increase to 19 cents per kilowatt hour, but the way the energy is used, recipients of the solar energy will use less energy in general.
"I would point out that if we do one 500-kilowatt solar array with Lyndon State College, that would represent a small percentage of Lyndon State College's entire electricity consumption," said Sam Carlson, the Director of Green Lantern Solar Development. "It would not reduce payments in a huge way to Lyndonville Electric Department."
As of right now, the solar farm is still conceptual. They are trying to find a location that would have minimal impact on the residents of Lyndonville. The location options are minimal due to the fact that it needs to be located near a phase three power line due to the amount of power that the panels draw.
They are still trying to work out details with the Lyndonville Electric Department.
