Danville Begins Process for Mascot

DANVILLE - The Danville school is beginning the process of finding their new mascot and identity, students, alumni, and Danville residents are able to submit their suggestion and a design for a new mascot until May 15th.

The process of finding a new mascot has been largely online, David Schilling the principal of Danville said that he’s gathered inspiration from other schools who have been in the same situation they are facing. “Having the entire process online, it was pretty phenomenal so I borrowed a lot of that to be honest, what they had really spoke to me that it was inclusive and it set some guidelines going forward.” With it being online, they were able to get a larger variety of participants who were either for or against the changing of the mascot.

“That was the biggest thing we wanted a large variety of participation, we wanted to hear a lot of voices and wanted those who participated to be excited and have that feeling of having a part in the process.” The process will take about three weeks to finalize the top three to five finalists.
