Burke Hosts Fall Weekend

fall foliageEAST BURKE- Foliage is in its peak in East Burke, just in time for the annual Fall Foliage Festival.  Burke is hoping for a busy weekend, President of the Burke area Chamber of Commerce, Tim Tierney, estimates that around 4,500 people will attend the festival in the small town.

 

"It's actually grown, we've expanded our area, we have more actviites; because of the more people we need to provide more venues for all the folks that do come, and they bring a lot of money to the town." says Tierney.

This is the 27th Fall Foliage Festival held in East Burke, and there are many activites for kids and adults alike.

Events include a parade that starts at 10 a.m on Saturday, horse drawn carriage rides, and a farm animal petting zoo for the kids. A craft show starting at 9 a.m that includes seventy five vendors, as well as a beer and wine tent featuring live music from 3 p.m until 6 p.m at Mike's Tiki Bar for the adult crowd.

There has also been many mountain bikers in the area due to the final race of the Kingdom Enduro Triple Crown held at Q Burke Mountain. Practice for the event takes place on Saturday and the actual race takes place on Sunday. Contenders in the race include Men and Women pro-riders, as well as amatuer and youth riders.
