The Burke Mountain Club in East Burke is known for having historic artifacts and statues about the town, but there’s more being added into the building.
Christine Emmons, the main director of the club provided lot’s of information on Elmer Darling, who started both the club and the now Burke Mountain Resort. The building includes a library, space to hold activities, and the most recent project, redoing the basement for a children's library. “We’re just trying to really refocus and revive it as the Community Center that it was meant to be”. “As far as people wanna travel, we’d love to have you as a member or a guest at any of the events”, (Christine Emmons). She wants more people to get involved with this space, when it’s nicer, they want to hold things at the gazebo outside. For anyone who has an interest in knowing more about this town's history, or to casually look at artifacts from Abraham Lincoln, stop by the club.
