BURKE - The Superintendent of schools Jennifer Botzojorns announced Wednesday that Megan Jones would fill the principal position at Burke Town School which is part of the Kingdom East school district. Stacy Rice who is still the current principal has accepted a new job as the Director Of Student Services for the Kingdom East Scool District. The opening for principal was posted in Febuary for parents, faculty, and staff to review possible candidates for the position. After a few meetings, finalists including Megan Jones virtually sat in a 3rd grade class to have students do a Q&A session. The rest of the process saw meetings with the administrative staff and teachers. Jones also conducted a mock 30 minute faculty meeting.
In a statement, Jones said, "I am so very excited to join the team at Burke Town School. The strong sense of community at Burke has been evident throughout every step of this process, it is what initially attracted me to this rossition. I can't wait to work with the entire Burke Town School community as we enter the next school year." Jones added, "I know we are all eager to get back to school after these closures, and that strong sense of community at Burke will be so important, not only over the weeks ahead, but as we transition into a new school year."
Jones starts her new job in July and comes in to the position with 15 years of experience. She will have two more oppertunities to attend virtual events this Spring for Burke Town School.
The Superintendent of schools Jennifer Botzojorns had this to say in a statement.
"The members of the search and interview committee are excited to have Mrs. Jones on board." she continued, "We had 3 highly qualified candidates interview for this position. Mrs. Jones Has considerable instructional leadership and we welcome her expertise. She is energetic, an experienced teacher and instructional leader at all grade levels and brings to this position a wealth of experience and knowledge."
