BURKE - Another expansions development has come from the purchase of Burke Mountain by Jay Peak. The two mountains have now released a season pass that will work at both ski areas called The Judge.
The new pass has created new opportunities for both mountains, as well as skiers and snowboarders.
Skiers and riders who had already purchased a season's pass to either mountain before the release of The Judge were given until October 15 to upgrade their passes to The Judge at a discounted rate. Many pass holders have taken that option.
"This is an early deadline for Burke season pass holders. We were also sure to call our pass holders, we let them know by phone and it was on the radio, internet, and news print. We have a majority of our season passes sold which is a good sign going into winter," said Burke Mountain Marketing Director, Hannah Collins.
"We are very happy with the results of our pass sales. We have seen a lot of Burke pass holders make that upgrade to include the Jay Peak pass and we are happy about that."
Collins believes that the new pass not only benefits that mountains but the skiers as well.
"We think by having the combo pass we are going to see a lot more skiers who maybe ski at Jay Peak in the past and that's their home mountain to maybe give us a try," Collins said. "The same thing for the Burke skiers, now they can go give Jay Peak a try on this one season pass. It gives better skiing options in the Northeast Kingdom as a whole."
Both single mountain as well The Judge passes are still available at full price.
