Burke Ski Swap

skswapthumbBURKE VT- It is almost that time of year again, when snow flakes fall and everyone hits the trails. To prepare folks for the winter season Burke put on it’s annual ski swap over the weekend.

Though there is no exact record of how long the sale has been around, locals believe this is it’s fiftieth year.

The swap isn’t just for skiers. Snowboards, helmets and various other winter sport must haves were also available at the sale.

The swap is a great opportunity for locals to buy equipment at reasonable prices and, according to Carrie Tomczk of Village Sport, a great way to go green.

“It’s recycling equipment and people have a good outlet for their old tuff.

If saving a few bucks, and the environment at the same time wasn’t enough, all the proceeds go to the

Burke Town School Ski and Skate program. Giving younger generations the chance to experience all the winter season has to offer.

“It makes Skiing affordable for lots of families in the area,” says Tomczk “the most important thing is it benefits the kids at the school, and they get to go skiing or ice skating or snow shoeing.”

This years swap was very successful, taking in fifty percent more revenue than lest year.
