Around the NEK- The seasons are changing and the spring isn't the only season upon us. Springtime is also known as spring selling season for buying and selling homes.
According to Realtor.com spring and summer are the best time to sell a home. For families with children the spring moving means the kids will be settled in before the new school year.
In the Northeast Kingdom, Rural Edge partners with Union Bank and offers a first time home buying class to offer help with the buying process.
The class goes over everything one would need to know about home buying such as; spending leaks, how to calculate your affordability, insurance, hiring a realtor, inspections, incentives that may be available to you, disclosures that you will receive, and lastly what to expect on your day of closing. The course also helps attendees build their credit if needed.
Michelle Desrochers with the Rural Edge HomeOwnership Center, says there's an influx of people attending the first time home buying class during the spring months.
“Spring is here, houses seem to be coming onto the market and people start looking at purchasing homes,” says Desrochers. “It is a great time to start house shopping, the nice weather and longer days makes packing and moving a lot easier as well.”
Melyssa Whitcomb from Union Bank in Lyndonville says the bank is busier in the spring in regards to working with people getting home mortgages.
“Everyone seems to be buying in the spring” “Who wants to move in the winter,” says Whitcomb.
Rural Edge is offering their next first time homebuyers class on May 23rd in Lyndonville.
