Bucks Blanked By Blue Devils

alannah farley bmuWELLS RIVER - The Blue Mountain Union Lady Bucks looked to avenge their winless record Wednesday evening when they hosted the Williamstown Blue Devils. The Blue Devils marched into town with a three game winning streak.

The Blue Devils jumped out to an early lead, and would go on to dominate the first half. Williamstown led Blue Mountain by a 4-0 score at halftime.

Blue Devils mid-fielder Mariah Lamell would net the first goal of the second half for Williamstown, and Kate Mascitti would score the Blue Devils sixth and final goal of the contest.

The victory pushed Williamstown's record to 6-1, good enough for 4th place in Division III.

For Blue Mountain, it was their seventh loss of the season, and their third time being shut out. The Lady Bucks remain one of four winless teams (Cabot, United Christian Academy, Twinfield) in Division IV.

Lady Bucks defensive captain Alannah Farley talked about how Blue Mountain came out with a new defensive look for this contest.

"It was difficult playing this team with that new defense because they are so good, and plus it's so new to us," said Farley. "But throughout... the last ten minutes of the game we really started bringing it together... so by the end of the game I was okay with it."

Farley said another issue the Lady Bucks struggle with is spacing.

"We need to work on spacing out, but also not spacing out too much. We often have space in the middle, which leaves the goal wide open," Farley said.

The Lady Bucks return to the field Friday afternoon in what will be a tough contest against Division III-leading Sharon Academy. The Sharon Academy is 6-0-1 on the season.
