St. Johnsbury Girls Soccer

ST. JSAINT JOHNSBURY-The Saint Johnsbury Academy girls soccer team bested BFA Saint Albans yesterday evening with a five to nothing win. This puts the Lady Hilltoppers at a 3 and 0 record for the start of the season. The girls have yet to let in a goal in their three games played.

The Saint J girls came out of the gate very strong finding the net twice within the first ten minutes played. They exploited the BFA Saint Albans defense well by clearing the ball up the field with plenty of space to score.

Junior Hilltopper Lilly Leach recorded three points on the day with two goals in the first half and an assist in the second. That puts Leach at 7 goals in three games, and Head Coach Jeff Burroughs forsees many more huge goals from Leach this season.

The second half of the game was a victory for the Hilltoppers as well, still holding BFA Saint Albans to no goals scored. Coach Burroughs commented that his girls came out flat in the second half, allowing BFA to have a lot more room to score than they did in the first half. Burroughs predicts that wins will be more challenging later in the schedule when they play the metro conference.

The Saint J girls are slated to play their next game against Brattleboro this Saturday at home at 11 am.
