Bernie Sanders Recovering After Heart Surgery

Bernie HospitalizedSAINT JOHNSBURY- Senator Sanders is now recovering after undergoing emergency heart surgery, according to members of his campaign. The Senator had two stents inserted into an artery, the procedure coming after Sanders experienced periods of chest pains during a campaign event on Tuesday night, said his advisor Jeff Weaver in a statement on Wednesday morning. Although he has had to cancel multiple upcoming campaign events, such as one in Iowa this weekend, his team assures us that Sanders is doing well and is in good spirits.

At an event in Saint Johnsbury Wednesday afternoon, Governor Phil Scott said that “we hope he’s doing well. I don’t know all of the details, but I am planning to touch base with his staff this afternoon.”

It is unknown at this time whether or not Senator Sanders will be able to participate in the next presidential debate on October 15th, which is now less than two weeks away.
