LYNDON – The Lyndon select board gathered Monday evening at the municipal building in Lyndonville. Much of what was gone over was appointing two people to positions in the municipal service. Selectman as well as town administrator Justin Smith sat down with Ken Mason and Sarah Cusino to discuss their qualifications and intentions in serving as representatives for the planning commission and Lyndon Rescue.
Ken Mason has lived in Lyndonville since 1978 and has a lot of prior experience working with town officials in planning. In justifying his importance to the planning commission, Mason attributed his experience and pleasure of living in Lyndonville. Mason commented that the town of Lyndonville has been good to himself and his family and he feels it is time to give back to the community.
"I know how it works, and I know how municipal governments work here in the town and village. Plus, you know my status is retired, so you know every day is a Saturday. I do have the time to get involved, I've lived in Lyndon since 1978 and raised a family. Lyndon's been good to us, so I thought it may be a good time to give back and do something for the town of Lyndon."
The Lyndon select board made their second appointment of the meeting, putting Sarah Cusino in the position of Lyndon Rescue representative. Cusino has been a part of the Lyndon Rescue team since she was 16 years old and has extensive training in the rescue field. Sarah is optimistic about serving as the conduit for information between Lyndon Rescue and the municipal government.
"We have a very aging population in this area, and with that being said I think Lyndon Rescue's focus may be shifting in that direction."
Chairman of the select board Dan Daley was pleased to hear the experience of these two individuals and felt that they are a great fit for these two positions. All other members of the select board were on the same page with the chairman and allotted these two for three-year terms each.
