Deer Rifle Season

Hunting_season.jpgLYNDON- The 2014 deer rifle season started off with a quick bang.

One hunter killed a deer and wanted to report to Village Sports Shop, 90 minutes before it opened on Saturday. Richardson, employee of Village Sport Shop said, "I think we have seen fewer this year but so far I don't recall how many we had opening day last year. But it seems it has been a lot slower."

When the deers were brought to Village Sport Shop the deer was tagged and weighed. If the person wanted to Connor Hunt would then take a blood sample to of the deer if it has the Triple E virus. The Triple E virus is tested because it is a very serious virus that can affect humans. It's rare and usually carried by infected mosquitos who might have bitten a deer.

"When the deer gets tested the hunter gets presented a map and we ask them to point on the map where the deer was shot, the time the deer was shot and the weight of the deer." said Connor Hunt.

Some of the hunters even told us their stories of their kills. Bruce Edward Grady story was he was is his back yard chopping trees with his chainsaw and saw a doe walk out in his property and a four pointer was trailing behind. "I took good aim on his front shoulder and their he went right down after running into a tree and this where he was."

Even though the first day of rifle season went slow, hunters are still happy and are enjoying the hunt. Hunting season ends Novemember 30th.
