stun gunsVERMONT - The Vermont House has agreed on Senate changes to a bill calling for statewide training standards for police whom carry electronic stun guns.  

 

The Senate also debated whether police carrying stun guns should be required to wear body cameras to record the use of the weapon.

Another development on the bill includes the collection of data of the race of those stopped by police to be used in anti-bias police training.

Stun gun use by police has been an issue since June of 2012, when Trooper David Shaffer fired his Taser at MacAdam Mason, who later died of cardiac arrest.

The bill will now head to Governor Peter Shumlin, who is expected to sign it through.
