Vermont- The results are in, proposal 2 has been passed. What this means for Vermont is that the state constitution will be amended to prohibit slavery in any form.
The proposal was put forward after a loophole was found in the constitution stating that salvery could be allowed in certain circumstances for the payment of fines and debts. The state constitution is currently being changed to state that slavery and indentured servitude in all forms is prohibited.
The proposal was passed with at 88.8% to 11.2% vote.
