Danville - The Defending D-IV State Champions will start their journey trying to make it back to the championship game. The first obstacle standing in their way is Proctor High School. The Bears (14-6) Hosted Proctor (11-9), and the controversy started even before the game when the Burlington Free Press and others picked Proctor to upset the state champs in the first round. Let's say the Bears heard the noise from the outside.

The Bears started the game HOT, starting the game with a 9-0 run with some big 3's from Kohl Guinard and Landen Fournier. The Phantoms had nothing to stop this scoring-powered offense. The lead would just continue to increase when the Bears ended the quarter up 30-8. A big key contributor to that start was Landen Fournier catching fire behind the arch. He ended the first quarter 3-3 from the arch.  The Bears would keep this momentum rolling into the second quarter. With the help of senior forward Sebastian Eldred, they expanded the lead to the next quarter and were up 31 at halftime.

The Bears didn't let the foot off the gas in the 2nd half, where Landen fournier starting sparking again, and he ended the game with a big 27 points and SEVEN 3's.  With a key contribution from Senior Guard Alijah Andrews and Jackson Giroux. Danville, by the end of the third quater built their lead to 40. Danville Put in some new faces and younger faces, and they didn't disappoint. A big and 1 from the Big fella Junior Forward Keegan Wheeler as he ended with 5 points and 2 big 3's for Nolan Cargil that had the gym going crazy. The Bears won 91- 35.

Danville put up 56 point dominating winning performance, trying to make a big playoff run to try to claim back-to-back state championships. I got to talk to Senior Guard Landen Fournier, and he talks about how his main goal is to make that happen:" I heard people had proctor over us in their rankings, so we just wanted to prove them wrong."

Fournier and his crew got a lot of work to do when they go to West Rutland (21-0)and take on the undefeated Golden Horde's. The Bears beat West Rutland last year in the playoffs, so this game is a very highly anticipated matchup. The game is at 7 pm Friday @ West Rutland High School.
