LITTLETON- If you are trying to get to Walmart or Shaw's off of exit 42, it's going to be a bit more complicated. New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announced that preservation bridgework would start at exit 42 starting April 13th, 2020.
US Route 302/NH Rt 10, also known as Meadow Street, over I-93 will be seeing major traffic changes due to the bridge construction. Work had already begun shifting both lanes to the West/Southbound side of Meadow Street. NHDOT has released the subsequent detours that will be implemented during the road work,
"Detour 1 – The I-93 Exit 42 Southbound On Ramp will be closed to US Rt 302 westbound traffic during construction. Westbound US Rt 302 travelers seeking to travel south will be detoured to Exit 43 to turn around.
Detour 2 - The I-93 Exit 42 Northbound On Ramp will be closed to US Rt 302 eastbound traffic during construction. Eastbound US Rt 302 travelers seeking to travel north will be detoured to Exit 41 to turn around.
Detour 3 – Truck Detour: The Southbound Exit 42 off ramp will be closed to trucks. Trucks intending to access US Route 302 Eastbound / NH Rt 10 will be detoured to Exit 41 to turn around."
During this project, the goal is to replace the pavement and membrane on the main part of the bridge. As well as repair any and all concrete problems. The sidewalk will also be updated to meet the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations.
Currently, the project is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2020. However, work on the bridge is contingent on current COVID-19 constraints which can change at any moment.
