stj semigame finalST. JOHNSBURY - The St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers football team have continued their undefeated season with a win over the Essex Hornets this past Saturday in the Semi-Finals.

The Hilltoppers are now headed to the State Finals. "It's awesome, we worked so hard, all the team to get here and it's just amazing," Tight end for the Hilltoppers, Carlos Carrasco explained after the game.

St. Johnsbury made their way into the end zone three times in the first quarter alone, with one of those touchdowns coming from Quarterback Colton Hudson. "That play right there was a big play to open up a little more from fourteen-nothing. That was just when I knew the game would be over. I mean the end of the first quarter was just a great feeling," Hudson said.

In the fourth quarter of the game, Carrasco scored his first touchdown of his high school football career, which ended up being the last scored by the team.

However, It wasn't a total shutout for the Hornets, as they did manage to run in for a touchdown near the end of the Fourth, making it a 26-6 final.

Coach of the Hilltoppers, Rich Alercio, reflected on how the team got to where they are today. "Their commitment to what we're doing, buying into the culture that we've created, they've bought into everything we've asked them to do, and that leads to, with some good luck, a ten and zero season."

St. Johnsbury will be trying to continue their winning streak when they take on Middlebury in the State Finals next Saturday in Rutland.
