Danville Building Advisory Group Sept. 14

Danville-On September 14th the Danville Building Advisory Group met to discuss the options to renovate the Danville School in response to the increasing enrollment.  The Pre-K through 12 schools has approximately 240 students and serves the towns of Danville, Peacham, Plainfield, Marshfield, Waterford, and Cabot.

There are three possible solutions on the table to fixing the small and old school. Option one would build a new elementary wing onto the school. Option two would build a small addition onto the current building for additional classroom space. And the third option would be to build a new school on the current soccer field. The first two possibilities have the added expense of getting the current building up to code.

"If in our worst-case scenario is palatable, then we would go with the most expensive option, and what have you, then that makes things very easy.  It might be the case (that) our worst-case scenario it's not palatable," Eric Hewit, the Danville Building Advisory spokesperson said.

The board's next meeting is on September 28th at the Danville School Library and will be discussing the tax impact for residents of each option.
