burke mountainBURKE - 20 state of the art energy efficient fan guns, as well as the construction of a new summit booster pump station, are part of a million dollar snow-making expansion.

"This is the first phase of a three-phase snowmaking expansion and upgrade. It's an important step forward for the resort," said the president and CEO of Q Burke Mountain Resort, Ary Quiros. "It will allow us to open our competition slope earlier and in a more complete manner."

The construction is slated to begin this month and is scheduled to be operational by early November in efforts to take advantage of early-season snowmaking weather.

"The new pump station will ensure more trails will be open earlier in a typical season, which is good news for our season pass holders and guests of the Q Burke Hotel and Conference Center," said Bill Stenger, general partner of the new facility that is scheduled to open this December.

Part of the plan is to relocate the already existing energy-efficient HKD tower guns currently located on the FIS Race Trail.

According to Quiros, "Our skiers and riders will appreciate this first phase as it will allow us to open earlier and with more terrain."

The resorts goal is to be open for skiing and riding by Friday November 27th.
