New Roof for Bradford Rest Stop

bradfordBRADFORD- This morning five construction teams assembled at the Interstate 91 rest stop in Bradford to take a tour of the facility, as the state looks to repair the twenty-two year-old shingled roof.

 

The Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services is overlooking the project, which is being labeled as “preventative maintenance,” as there are no current issues with the structure. Project Manager Brian Terhune explained that most roofs have a lifespan of about twenty-five years, and the repair is necessary. 

 

“We are getting ahead of the replacement and staying on top of it, before it really goes and we have a lot of leaks in the building," said Terhune.

 

The crews will submit their proposals of the project, which Terhune believes will be around $65,000, which is federally funded because it is a highway.

 

On March second a contractor will be hired, followed by the start of construction sometime in April depending on weather. The project will take about three months from the start of construction to complete. The rest stop will remain open during that time, as it should not interfere with people using the facility.
