The Blue Mountain Union School Board proposes a new budget, exactly $100,000 less than the initial 12.86 million.
Tonight at another school board meeting, a motion to warn a new budget number was unanimously voted on after deliberation in an executive session.
Board member Shawn Burroughs was one of many to acknowledge the voting outcome and how that’d play into a new budget proposal:
“It was such a narrow defeat and probably was going to be a narrow victory either way. I think for a lot of those numbers, we need to probably find some concessions, some concessions. I can—we can discuss amounts and whatnot. But I feel like the no voters who were about 50% of that vote, probably are looking for some sort of material change to that number before they would either reconsider or, may not have the support going forward.”
After roughly an hour of discussion, the decision to warn 12.76 million was motioned and approved by the board.
Currently there is to be an informational meeting on the 23rd of this month at 6pm at the Blue Mountain Union School library with voting on the 25th.
Community members of Ryegate, Groton, and Wells River are all included on the vote.
