Slalom Skiing Championship

aaaaalpineBURKE- Q Burke Mountain Resort hosted the Vermont Principal's Association's Slalom Skiing Championships yesterday. Teams where hoping to not only capture the championship, but also find a berth in the regional championships.

The Mount Mansfield girls won their fourth consecutive championship in the slalom with Burr and Burton, South Burlington, Rutland, and Woodstock rounding out the top five. The Lyndon Institute girls finished eighth while the St. Johnsbury Academy girls finished twelfth.

On the boys side Burr and Burton also won their fourth consecutive title with Woodstock, Mount Mansfield, South Burlington, and Harwood rounding out the top five. The Lyndon Institute boys finished seventh out of the 14 teams that competed.

Lyndon's Matt Valentine talked to News7 about the team's performance, saying that not only did the team work hard but "taking it to heart since it's the final two races".

Maya Gershun-Half also from Lyndon reflected on the changes that will becoming from the departing seniors, saying "its gonna get really lonely, there are only going to be four of us next year if we don't get any new skiers".
