ST. JOHNSBURY- The St Johnsbury Academy boys soccer team remaines undefeated after a hard fought victory against South Burlington High School (SBHS) on Tuesday.
A match that was slated for a 4:30 start time gave fans everything they wanted and more as both sides traded shots. The game remained close until Academy Hilltopper senior forward, Manuel Lugo scored the opening goal of the match. Lugo would finish the game with two goals leaving the final score two nothing in favor of the Hilltoppers.
The Academy took a defensive approach to Tuesday's game, which in turn was able to slow down the up-tempo pace that SBHS likes to play. St. J Head coach Steve Levesque thought the team played well defensively all over the field especially in an emotional game where they had to battle for 80 minutes.
"We have to work on everything we have to improve all the skills that we have... We have to practice every day to get better and better if we want to try and stay undefeated." said Lugo.
The Hilltoppers will try to remain unbeaten while atempting to hand Champlain Valley Union High School their first lost of the season this Friday in Hinesburg at 4:30 P.M.
