kiwanis communityST. JOHNSBURY - When the term Kiwanis comes up, most people don't understand what it is. So, what is it? You'd be surprised to find out that it's a world-wide rganization that is dedicated to making children's lives better.

"It's fantastic. My own children went through the tennis program right when they were five years old and went all the way through and played varsity at the academy," said Kris Ingraham of the St. Johnsbury School. "They learned to swim at the pool. Kiwanis just does wonderful things for the kids."

In St. Johnsbury, however, is where the community comes together to provide things to do for kids during the summer. The Kiwanis Auction, held annually since 1950, is how the club raises money to up-keep the programs for the kids. This years auction will be benefiting the pool, and if you could attend it was a marvelous site.

Don Mullally, a voice talent for WSTJ Radio tells us his story.

"I've been doing it for at least fifty years. I have been at the station since '52," said Mullally. "It means everything to me. The camaraderie, the work, and the youngster that we hopefully take care of during the summer season."

The club had over forty-thousand dollars worth of donations this year and they are hoping to raise about sixty thousand to support the pool.

This years annual Kiwanis Auction will end tonight and run from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
