LSCoffeeST. JOHNSBURY – From the outside, Locally Social Coffee in St Johnsbury doesn't look like your average coffee shop. Owned and run by Ian Carlet and Cari Melkonian, Locally Social Coffee has quickly developed a strong relationship with the community. Carlet and Melkonian's coffee shop is located within Caramel's Tanning; the two owners felt the combination was a good fit.

“The tanning has been around going on eight years," Carlet said. "The coffee is going on the eighth month. The response has been good, the customers that Cari had at Caramel’s really responded well”.

Locally Social Coffee has recently developed a positive reputation in the community. Using specialty items, such as half-gallon growlers of iced coffee, catering, and using organic beans, they have been able to rely on word of mouth to draw in new customers.

They've also used their unique location to their advantage. “It’s the hole in the wall kind of place,” Carlet said. “It's not even advertised as a coffee shop really out there, it's pretty lightly advertised as a coffee shop, but people like that.”

Carlet and Melkonian run Locally Social Coffee seven days a week by themselves.
