computerhackingST. JOHNSBURY - St. Johnsbury's Town Manager, Chad Whitehead, announced yesterday that data obtained from a recent computer hacking at the town offices is now safe.

The town’s computer system was hacked this past Saturday by malware that targeted payroll and tax bill files. Whitehead says his office must take precautions when going through an incident like this.  "We work with our I.T. people to make sure nothing is in trouble and we make our staff change passwords and emails. I don’t think it can be avoided I think you just have to be prepared.”

Whitehead says that if the case goes any further it will be taken up with the state Attorney General.
