vspfinalST. JOHNSBURY - The St. Johnsbury State Police barracks is under new leadership after a promotion left the lieutenant position unfilled. After commanding the St Johnsbury outfit for five years, former Lieutenant Michael Henry was promoted to the position of Vermont State Police B Troop Captain.

In this new position, he will oversee the three barracks that construct Troop B. These barracks include St. Johnsbury, Derby and Bradford.

Matthew Amadon, a state trooper with 15 over years of Vermont State Police experience, has filled this vacant position at the St. Johnsbury outfit. Amadon has worked in St. Johnsbury, Bradford as well as task forces. “The barracks is doing well as a whole and I want to continue to provide the service the barracks does and make sure it continues,” said Amadon.

Amadon will be working closely with Henry, who he labeled his “direct supervisor." “So far everyone has been very supportive not just in the barracks, but the community.” Although he is now leading the barracks, Amadon plans to keep things similar to the way Henry left them in the beginning. “Initially, there’s going to be no changes. You want a seamless transition when someone takes over, and Lieutenant Henry had this ship sailing in the right direction,” Amadon said.

While getting settled in his new role, Amadon spoke to the importance of teamwork within the organization. “Hopefully I can lean on the experience of the patrol commanders and some of the seasoned troopers and do a good job.”
