newtownmanagerST. JOHNSBURY — The St. Johnsbury select board is looking for a new town manager to replace current town manager John Hall. Hall plans to retire on April 13th of next year, after a long successful career.

It will be difficult for the select board to find a skilled and diplomatic person to fill Hall’s shoes, but they has formed a search committee to help.

“We’ve organized a search committee and the select board will outline the parameter for the search. We will advertise with the Vermont League of Cities and Towns. They will do the advertising, collecting all the resumes and applications. When they get those, they will turn them back to the town.” Select board member Alan Ruggles said.

“The selection committee will receive those resumes and applications and they will narrow down the search to whatever the select board determines.”

The Vermont League of Cities and Towns has done the administration searching in the previous years and it will help the select board for the search with a $7500 charge.

Ruggles mentioned that although they haven’t start advertising yet, it will be tough to find a new manager like John Hall.

“John is a great guy and he came in at a difficult time for the town. He has done some very good things for us,” Ruggles said. “Speaking for myself from the board, I think he is the right guy at the right time.”
