Kennametal Demolition on the Table

Story Written by Quin Peer

LYNDON - After taking over the building more than seven years ago Kennametal Inc. looks to demolish 378 Main Street in Lyndonville.

Thursday night marked an important milestone as the company presented to the town's development and review board. Kennametal and Bosch co-presented their case to the board on why it needs to be torn down.

However, people of the town had questions and concerns of their own. One of those concerned was Dennis Bouffard who believes that the corporation isn't doing the right thing. "There is no reason to tear that place down. They say they have exhausted all means of selling it. I've had a lawyer and other individuals trying to contact that company for weeks and they won't return a call, they won't return an email, they don't want to talk about it," said Bouffard.

The board has forty-five days to come to a decision. If Kennametal receives their permit, demolition should take six to seven weeks.
