LYNDON, VT - Lyndon Town school hosted the 46th Annual Burkelyn Holiday Market. The market gives artists, and aspiring artists a chance to promote themselves, or sell their products.
Cara Berryman, a Burkelyn Arts Trustee said, "Some kids learn much better in the performing arts than perhaps they do in math and some things like that, but it is truly an academic subject and it is art education and if we don't offer this I don't feel we're educating the whole child."
The money is raised by collecting fees from artists to set up a stand. The funds than got to art programs in schools. There was homemade lunch to be served, and raffles, to raffle off items donated by artists.
Sharon Scelza is an one of the artists that have been a supporter of the Burkelyn Arts Council for many years.
"The first craft show I ever did was the Burkelyn Craft show in 1973." Scelza said, "I love the fact that it goes into the school system to help kids with creating and maybe find something that they're special with."
Not only does it attract people who have been part of the craft show for years, but also, a younger generation.
Items such as Artwork, ornaments, and holiday wreaths, to hand-made glass, were all able to be found at while local musicians provided the music.
