Fair Cancelled

DANVILLE - Next years 83rd Danville Community Fair has been cancelled, due to reduced revenue and attendance after being relocated.

The fair is normally held at the Danville town green, which is affected by route 2 construction.

For the past two years the fair has been held at Danville Town School. Since the switch, ticket sales have dropped over 25%.

The construction along route 2 is expected to go throughout the next year, making the Danville Green unavailable for use for the fair.

The fair is funded by the Danville Chamber of Commerce, and all of the net proceeds go back into the town. Ken Linsley, President of the Danville Chamber of Commerce says that the town ended up making little to no profit by having to hold the fair at the Danville School.
"So we had to expend additional monies in order for the infrastructure as it normally would. "

Linsley says 2014's fair will be held at the Danville Town Green, and is expected to be bigger and better.   "back on the green in 2014, thats our motto and i'm sticking to it!"
