DANVILLE- Retention rates among public high schools around the Northeast Kingdom have been a problem in recent years. Danville is just one of the many schools feeling the pressure from competing schools like St. Johnsbury Academy and Lyndon Institute.
According to school board member, Sandy Hauserman, the Danville school has list 156 students since 1994, which averages out to about 7 a year.
Many area schools have needed to come up with creative ways to keep students from leaving. Jeremy White, Pathway and Outreach Coordinator, says" Next year Danville will be bringing Community College of Vermont in to offer dual enrollment courses."
This partnership is in hopes that the opportunity to begin getting college credits early will keep students at Danville instead of leaving.
