New Brand Met With Praise

nvu brandFAIRLEE— Thursday marked the one year anniversary of the Vermont State College Board of Trustees decision to merge Lyndon and Johnson State College's into Northern Vermont University.

"The last year has been quite momentous for both Lyndon and Johnson," said Jeb Spaulding, Chancellor of the VSC Board of Trustees.


Back in July, the merge took effect, and at the board meeting on Thursday, the new brand for the school was unveiled.

"I hope it portrays an excitement bigger than Lyndon, bigger than Johnson for the whole northern tier of Vermont," said Spaulding, " A year ago we were here at this same location talking about whether we should unify Johnson and Lyndon and there was a lot of emotion by people that felt like they were at a funeral for their institutions that they loved."

President of Northern Vermont University Elaine Collins says she had to hold back her excitement about the brand, " I'm very excited of course I've seen the brand much earlier than presented today, and I've held that excitement in and I'm just looking forward to the opportunity to share this with the broader campus community."

The new brand was also met with approval from the rest of the board of trustees.

The project was handled by Ologie, a company based out of Columbus, Ohio, who spent nearly eight months figuring out the essence of Northern Vermont.

"I feel like we have really captured the essence of Vermont in this brand," said Collins.

The new brand is expected to be shown to both the Lyndon and Johnson campuses on November 8th.
